Security stepped up in counting centres in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Stringent securities arrangements have been made in the four centres of Tamil Nadu, where the counting of votes for 17 assembly constituencies began this morning.

According to reports, two Deputy Commissioners are monitoring each of the four counting centres in Loyola College , Anna University, Queen Mary’s College – all in Chennai and Mohammad Sathak Arts College in Sholinganallur.

Each of the counting centres has an Election Control Room, a Media Centre and a Public Communication Room.

The Tamil Nadu poll outcome would be a test for Chief Minister M Karunanidhi government’s performance in the state

The fate of AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa, Karunanidhi’s son and Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin and DMDK actor-founder Vijayakanth will also be decided.

Apart from Tamil Nadu, the counting of votes also began in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry.
